Thanks to the effort of Marie and Nicolo Monis back got better within a week. At least good enough to explore the island hiking and cycling:

We have been working on Gozo for about four weeks now. That means diving, diving, diving... at lots of different sites with interesting people. And of course carrying and filling tanks... That's the reason Moni hurt her back and  cannot dive or work currently :( As we cannot take pictures while training or guiding, we borrowed some impressions of our "office" from a brilliant underwater photographer:

Our first part led us from Halle to Gozo, with some stops to say goodbye this took us 27 days.We only cycled around 75 km instead of 100 km as planned - midsummer and about 18000 m difference in altitude slowed us down. To arrive in time on gozo to start our job we had to do some kilometers by train. In total we went 2000 km by bike, 1000 km by train, 400 km by ferry and 15 km hitchhiking on a pickup.

We use our weekly day-off to explore Gozo. Of course by bicycle. Some impressions of the salt pans in the north of the island:

Alive and just in time for the ferry!The ticket vendor doesn't trust his price list and it takes him endless phone calls to make sure that bicycles only cost 3€. Finally we arrive on the ferry, find a quiet place, unroll our sleeping bags and mats and feel very happy. Unfortunaly a sailor starts to clean the deck in the middle of the night, it doesn't help too much that he skips our place, we get quite wet :( Thats why we look for a lonely place in Valetta after we arrived for the rest of the night.
